Hilary has been dancing since she was three years old, studying ballet and jazz as a child before finding belly dance in her late teens. She started belly dancing regularly in 2010 with the Ananda Center, performing at Relay for Life, Canton First Fridays, and other public events.

An explorer of history and the arts, Hilary is drawn to belly dance’s multi-cultural heritage, musicality, and costuming, as well as its emotional and spiritual benefits. She continues to be amazed by belly dance’s ability to spark confidence, encourage awareness of the present moment, and give dancers permission to treasure our bodies just as they are.

Hilary strives to create a non-judgemental, playful learning atmosphere. She teaches Tribal Fusion, a blend of Mediterranean folk dances, Indian classical dance, flamenco, cabaret, and hip-hop. She has also fallen in love with American Tribal Style ® and incorporates its dance vocabulary into class.

Belly dance is truly life-changing and Hilary feels honored to aid her students on their dancing journeys.

Belly dance is both very old and very new. Its movements are rooted in folk dances of the Middle East, Northern Africa, and the Mediterranean, and many new styles have emerged since its introduction to Western audiences in the late 1800s. Its natural, graceful movements build muscle and flexibility while being easy on the body. Belly dance encourages confidence, connection, self-awareness, and community.

Hilary Elise teaches Tribal Fusion, an exciting blend of belly dance with Indian classical dance, flamenco, cabaret, and hip-hop.
