Tina DeMatteis, Independent Consultant

Tina didn’t start out with a passion for natural health and wellness. As a matter of fact, she grew up on “c” food ….cookies, cake, cereal and Fishers’ creamsticks! When she and her brother and I would have a dollar to spend, they would invariably find themselves in the five-and-dime candy aisle at Ben Franklin trying to figure out the best bang for their buck! She became addicted to sugar in no time and spent her life as a young adult battling the consequences of that.

After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a degree in Marketing/Advertising, Tina’s life got exciting and her diet moved to chips & dip, fettucine alfredo, and drinks with friends. Not surprisingly, her symptoms got worse. Between her poor eating habits and an overuse of antibiotics prescribed for chronic allergies and multiple cases of strep throat, her immune system suffered and would cause her to have less-than-optimal health for quite some time. After an IBS diagnosis from a doctor and two colonoscopies in her 30s, the drugs they gave her weren’t working and she decided to start looking for another answer. “I learned that the food I ate on Monday may have something to do with how I felt on Tuesday”. The doctors didn’t tell her this, (they just wrote more prescriptions), but she started putting the connection together herself. That began her journey into what she calls “common sense” health practices. She learned the addictive nature of some of these “frankenfoods” and realized that her mood, her muscles, her joints, her brain and her personality were all affected by what she chose to eat!

Tina’s learning journey continued after giving birth to her son when hormonal changes wreaked havoc on her body. When she learned that a naturopathic doctor could treat her hormone imbalance with diet and herbs, she became even more interested in learning about ways to heal that didn’t involve chemical drugs. It was while working for that doctor that she learned about the lymphatic system and musculoskeletal system and natural ways to address the health of each.

Next, a friend introduced her to homeopathy. Some little white pellets under her son’s tongue took his symptoms away completely! It was not a drug and it had no side effects! She was hooked and knew she needed to know more. So homeopathy was added to the list of things that “just made sense” and she started studying it and treating her family and friends with the energetic medicine.

Now Tina is on a mission to transform and renew her health and wants to help others do the same! Through her website goodhealthgirlfriend.com, Tina shares what she learns about living well and being healthy! These days you may find her sharing yoga or teaching small groups about essential oils or the importance of detox. She can also provide you with an ionic detox foot bath or let you enjoy a session in the far infrared sauna! Her joy is helping others learn about and take steps to improve their health ~ naturally!
