A technique using the reflex points of the feet and hands to stimulate corresponding parts of the body, such as glands and organs. Using a method of thumb and finger pressure or “fingerwalking” is a natural way of stimulating these areas, which can aid in normalizing body function.
The idea of Reflexology is not new–in fact, it was practiced as early as 2330 B.C. by the Egyptian culture. In the West, reflexology began to emerge in the 19th century with European and Russian research into the nervous system.
The original Ingham Method™ of Reflexology is used primarily for relaxing tension. Physiotherapist Eunice Ingham is credited with developing a system of reflex areas used today.
