Reiki

Reiki (RAY-kee) is a Japanese word commonly translated as “universal life force energy” or “spiritually guided life energy”. It is a natural and holistic therapy that promotes relaxation and stress reduction, enabling the body to naturally heal itself. Although universal energy has been used for healing for centuries, Dr. Mikao Usui discovered the technique in the early 1900’s. Reiki was brought from Japan to the West in 1938.

Reiki is gentle, non-invasive and can never cause harm. Anyone can learn to practice it and it can have phenomenal results when practiced on people and animals.

Reiki is not a religion, nor does the client have to maintain a specific belief system in order to benefit from it. However, it is very spiritual in nature and does require the heart-centered, focused intention of healing from the practitioner. It will work regardless of the client’s belief in it. Reiki is not a replacement for traditional medical care, but a compliment to it.
